CONSTRUCTION CODE REQUIREMENTS

SUMMARY

This
section includes the following:

Construction code requirements for all
construction at Texas Tech University.

SECTION INTENT
-
The
Board of Regents at the Texas Tech University System (BOR) adopts the
official construction codes to which all construction on the campuses of the
Texas Tech University System shall adhere.
The following specifies all pertinent codes.
PART
2 CONSTRUCTION CODE REQUIREMENTS
2.1
CODES

It is the policy of the BOR
to make all construction/renovation projects conform to the most current
edition of the following codes:
-
Uniform Building Code;
-
National Electrical Code;
-
Uniform Plumbing Code;
-
NFPA 101, Life Safety
Code;
-
National Fire Protection
Association Codes and Standards;
-
ANSI/ASME A17.1 Safety
Code for Elevators and Escalators;
-
ANSI Z136.1 Standards for
Safe Use of Lasers;
-
State Insurance Board
requirements governing fire sprinkler systems;
-
U. S. Environmental
Protection Agency regulations;
-
ASHRAE Standard 90 A, B
& C Energy Conservation in New Building Design;
-
U. S. Department of
Health, Public Health Service Regulations and guidelines;
-
State statutes
regulating, but not limited to, the following:
-
asbestos
-
boilers
-
control of radiation
-
energy consumption
-
fire escapes
-
fire alarms
-
plumbing fixtures
-
Texas Accessibility
Standards of the Architectural Barriers Act, Article 9102, Texas Civil
Statutes;
-
Americans with
Disabilities Act (ADA) Accessibility Guidelines for Buildings and
Facilities;
-
U. S. Department of Labor
Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) regulations; and
-
Any other applicable
codes deemed necessary by the projects nature shall be specified during
the design development review process.
